And waiting some more...

Well, we are now officially 5 days late, with no signs of Caroline wanting to make an appearance. We have an induction scheduled for Friday, so she's coming this week whether she likes it or not! It seems that we are going to have a stubborn little girl on our hands. :) The picture above is of me at 40 weeks and 2 days.

In the mean time, I am just trying to keep busy so I don't go crazy waiting! The nursery is now finally complete. My mom and I made all of the bedding and other stuff in her room. It turned out exactly like I had hoped - feminine, but yet not like someone sprayed the room down with Pepto Bismol. :)

Our friends the Mareks came into town this weekend for a visit. We had fun at the Allums' house cooking out and playing Wii. I gotta say, Phil and I are big fans of the Nintendo Wii. Our favorite games are the Wii Fit and Mario Kart. One highlight of the evening was seeing 2 1/2 year old Claire beating her dad Rhett at Wii Fit Soccer. Way to go, Claire! It was a fun evening hanging out with old friends...we miss you, Mareks!

Still Waiting...

Well, there's not too much to report right now, but I thought I'd update anyway. We're still waiting on Caroline to decide to make her appearance, but she seems quite comfortable where she is for the time being. I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday, which will be my due date, and we will most likely discuss induction dates for next week. We're still hoping she decides to come on her own, though! I'll post when we know something!

37 Weeks

Here is a picture of my giant preggo belly! Caroline is growing and kicking a LOT. She is quite the active little baby. Everything is going well. Three weeks left! (Hopefully, anyway...) We're putting the finishing touches on the nursery; I'll post some pictures when it is done!

We finished up our birth/parenting classes at the hospital last week. Philip practiced diapering a baby doll...too bad the real thing doesn't lie there perfectly still like that! The following picture is him wearing the "Empathy Belly." I'm not sure how much empathy you can have from wearing it for about 60 seconds. I told him he needed to lie down and then try to get up with it on, but no such luck.

Spoiled Puppies

I'm afraid that little Ellie and Maggie are in for quite a shock when Caroline arrives. When Philip and I were working in the nursery today, we looked over to find that Ellie had claimed Caroline's Moses basket for herself. After all, until now every bed that size was meant for her! What are we ever going to do with these two spoiled poodles?

On The List!

I heard from our adoption agency this morning, and we received approval from ICBF (the Colombian children's welfare agency) on April 29th! So, we are officially on THE LIST. Our approximately 30 month wait begins now. Praise God that they didn't ask for any more info from us, as they have been doing of most families lately! We're one step closer to Caroline's little brother or sister! :)

Happy Birthday, Philip!

For Philip's 30th, I surprised him with a weekend in Atlanta. He has been wanting to go to the Georgia Aquarium since he heard that they had whale sharks there. He has been fascinated with this particular fish since childhood, and wanted to see one in person! So I kidnapped him from his parking garage at work on Friday afternoon, and off we went. We also visited the World of Coca-Cola, which he had never visited. For any of you that know Philip at all, you know that he is quite the Coke drinker, so he enjoyed his visit there as well. He tried all of the 64 soft drinks in the Tasting Room, and had a bit of a tummy ache after. :) It was a great weekend! It was wonderful for the two of us to get away together one last time before we become three!

27 weeks

This is me at 27 weeks. The belly is growing! I failed my 1 hour glucose test last week, but thankfully passed the three hour test yesterday. Yea! Everything is going along well.

This week is exam week, and then I am done! :) I had decided at the beginning of the semester to play a game with my students. I decided to never tell them that I was pregnant, and to wait and see how long it took for one of them to be gutsy enough to ask. Well, no one ever asked. Now, I know I never ask ANYONE if they are pregnant, even if it is extremely obvious. And I am their instructor, with complete control over their grade in the course. So I guess I can understand their hesitation, but come on! I even walked around the classroom while lecturing, rubbing my belly all the while. Oh, well. The game ended up being no fun.

Anyway, not too much else going on in the Ryle household right now. We'll keep you updated!
