We're Adopting!!

Welcome to our blog! I will begin by announcing to those who have not heard...WE ARE ADOPTING! (In case you didn't get that from the title.) We are so thrilled to have begun the process of adopting an infant from Colombia, South America. It is amazing to see God leading us down such a clear and joyful path. We both always knew that we wanted to one day add to our family through adoption, but we were surprised when it was revealed to us that adoption is the plan that God has made for us NOW. We may one day also grow our family through birth, but this is where we are going first. We are excited to share the journey with you!

There is an exceptionally long wait involved; it will be most likely 2 1/2 years before we bring our baby home. Also, there is a TON of paperwork, which we are currently up to our eyeballs in. We've already been psycho-analyzed and fingerprinted multiple times, and still have physicals, more fingerprinting, and more visits with social workers ahead of us. It's a complicated process, and I will fill you all in on more of the details as we move along. For now, I will give you a few tidbits of what we are in for:

• Colombia does not allow first time parents to specify a gender, so we won't know whether we need pink or blue until 2-3 weeks before we go to pick our child up.
  
• We also will not know the specific age until that time, though we do know that he or she will be between 10 weeks to 1 year of age.
