Day 11: Our Apartment

Caroline was still a bit under the weather today, so we mainly stayed in the apartment.

We have loved our time so far in Colombia. A big part of that is, as they say, location, location, location. Our apartment has been fabulous. A lot of adoptive families opt to stay in a hotel when coming to pick up their child. In particular, there is one hotel in Cali that is highly recommended by our agency and by many, many adoptive families who have stayed there in the past. It has many perks, including all meals provided and daily excursions included. However, I am so glad that we opted for an apartment for our time here. Having two small girls who nap would have been no fun in a single hotel room. Also, we have spent almost every afternoon just chilling as a family in our living space. We brought toys and craft supplies to be able to just hang out and bond together. The extra space has been invaluable.

For any families looking for a place to stay, I highly recommend our hotel, the Suites House Hotel. I am so thankful we had the Worley family and our facilitator Magnolia to recommend it to us.

The living room.  The small table and chair by the sliding glass door is where our coloring, painting, and play doh time occur.  The sofa is the site of many snuggly times.

The shelves and cabinets to the left hold all of our toys, books, puzzles, and craft supplies.  There is mucho storage here.

TV for movie nights.  It swivels to face the master bedroom.

Dining area.  Three meals a day eaten here.

The kitchen.  Three meals a day cooked here.

Small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, blender, and stove top included.  (Washing machine through the door in the background.)

Bottled water included.  We go through one about every three days.

Master bedroom

Master bath.  It has a tub, which is a rare commodity in Cali.

Girls' room

Again, great storage.  All our empty suitcases are stowed here.

Hall bath.  (There is also another 1/2 bath that doesn't see much use, but may be helpful to large families.)

View from our balcony.  This is actually a gated parking area, but it is not much used.

Great place, does this landlord have a website? Saw some folks on the adoption forum asking about good places in Cali.

BTW..went to the "game" yesterday. Was fun for the first quarter after wards for us it went down hill. Bama is an unreal team this year. IMO they are better than last year, even w/o the high profile backs.

Glad everything is going well..will be keeping you all in our prayers
