Day 12: The Park and Pizza

Caroline was finally feeling better today (and the rest of us have stayed healthy), so Magnolia picked us up to take us to a park this morning. It was the first time since we've been here (barring the playground at Chiquitines on the day we met Luisa) that the girls have gotten to run and play outside. It was good to expend some energy! Luisa loved the swings and slide. I am so glad we recently found a playset on Craigslist for them to play on in the backyard.

After playing for awhile, we had lunch at a pizza place next to the park.  Then we returned home for, you guessed it, nap time.  We actually had to wake Luisa up after almost 3 hours.  I guess she was worn out by our morning activities!

When Luisa woke up, Philip read the girls one of our favorites, We're Going on a Bear Hunt.  Luisa LOVED it.  She gets so vocal when she gets excited about something, and this was no exception.  He had to read in twice, then I read it once, and then Caroline had to show her the pictures again.

Afterward, we played the video that we had sent Luisa while she was still at Chiquitines.  They have a process there to prepare the children for their families.  Three weeks prior to the new family coming, the psychologist on staff begins to show the child the video daily.  The video consists of a tour of the home and maybe the parents reading a book to the child.  Luisa sat mesmerized while watching it two times through today.  I love that she will be somewhat familiar with our home and her room before we arrive back in Alabama.
