Day 7 : Cali Zoo

Today we visited the zoo.  I think it was a bit too early for Luisa.  She seemed overstimulated and was scared of lots of the animals.  She was even fearful of the butterfly exhibit!  I think we will wait awhile before we try something like that again.  However, Caroline really enjoyed the change of pace.  She was excited to see bears, which our local zoo does not have.
This one is for you, Erin Shafer.  (Don't worry; it's a crocodile, not an alligator.)

Who knew butterflies could incite such trembling?
Lulo parfait.  Super yummy.
The only exhibit Luisa liked was the white-tailed deer.  She started pointing and vocalizing as soon as we strolled up to them.  I got her out so she could see better.  We stared at them for quite awhile.  It was strange to see deer in the zoo.  I kept waiting for them to startle and dart off, but they of course are zoo animals.  (Sorry, Uncle Matt, but you can't shoot these.)  Luisa's fondness for the deer inspired Caroline's pick for our feature film tonight: Bambi.

I think Caroline was more excited about the playground at the zoo than the animals.  I didn't realize how much she was itching to get outside and play.  She was able to run off quite a bit of energy.

When we got home, Luisa seemed to utter a sigh of relief.  She slipped right back into her normal self.  We had lunch and then a time for nap for all four of us.  Afterward, it was playtime for Daddy, Luisa, and Caroline, and laundry/cooking time for Mommy. (Side note: It only took five minutes for Luisa to conk out for nap.  And bedtime tonight only took about 15 minutes.  Yea!)

Playdoh is still a favorite.  We also brought out some balloons, which led to a giggle-filled half hour of chasing them around the room.  Having one daughter means lots of giggles.  Having two means way more than double the amount.  I love it.
