Day 2: Settling In and Orphanage Visit

Colombian coffee
We began our day with Colombian coffee.  For those of you who know me, you are aware that coffee consumption is one of my most treasured times of each day.  We ate breakfast, unpacked, and got dressed.  Magnolia met us at the apartment to walk us to the market up the street.  It comprises the third level of a mall.  The experience was, well, chaotic.  The produce, however, is as amazing as I've heard it is.  We selected several new fruits to sample.  One of our favorites is granadilla. We also got some really good cheese and wonderful, fresh bread.

Granadilla

After the market, we came home for lunch and Caroline's nap.  Magnolia picked us up at 2:00 to trek out to Chiquitines.  It is a good 45 minute drive.  There, we had a meeting with the adoption coordinator, Luisa's social worker and her preschool teacher, and the orphanage's doctor and psychologist.  We took in a LOT of really wonderful information about this sweet girl.  It was truly evident in the meeting how much the staff there cares for Luisa.  Their faces light up when they discuss our bright, opinionated, determined girl.  She is so loved by the entire staff as well as her peers there.

Tomorrow morning at 10:00 is Luisa's presentation.  We are so thrilled and can only hope we are able to sleep tonight.  Caroline was bouncing off the walls earlier singing, "We're going to get Luisa tomorrow!"

Snuggling my big girl on her last night as our only child.

So happy for you! I was wondering if you could tell me about your apartment. We are adopting two kids from Cali in a couple weeks and would really like to stay in an apartment. People from our agency have been staying in a hotel but we had an apartment for our last adoption and loved it so much more.

Very excited and happy for your whole family. Will be keeping you all in prayer during this very exciting time. God's blessings to you all. We are waiting right now to hear about a possible match for us. It's from the Bolivar region, which is the Cartagena area.

Looking forward to reading about your adventure to becoming a family of 4.
